March 2 (Sat) – Highland Hills Elementary Student Signing Day

Highlands Hills Elementary will open school registration season with a special “Signing Day” on campus. Picture how highly recruited high school athletes announce where they will attend college with a lot of fanfare. That is the high energy scene Highland Hills Elementary will provide for families as students sign on to join the Eagles familia. A special emphasis will be made to welcome new families joining Highland Hills. Food and crafts will be provided.
March 4 and 6 (Mon and Wed) – SAISD Athletes read to students for Read Across Las Americas week

SAISD athletes from a trio of high schools are set to mark “Read Across Las Americas” week by reading to the young students at Ogden Elementary. The campus has more than 30 adult guest readers visiting all week, but nothing captures the attention of little learners when they meet athletes wearing their uniforms or school colors. The goal is to connect our students to reading that goes beyond the classroom.

March 5 to 7 (Tues to Thurs) – SAISD Special Olympics Track Meet

The thrill of victory never is felt everywhere at this event. The SAISD Office of Disability Services is hosting the annual Special Olympics Track & Field meet. All Special Education students from SAISD schools will participate in track and field events at Alamo Stadium. Smiles are in abundance. Everyone leaves a winner.

March 6 (Wed) – CAST Schools and SAISD unveil name of NEW middle school
6 p.m., CAST Med High School, 2601 Louis Bauer Drive, 78223
A new middle school option will be available in San Antonio ISD in the fall. The middle school is a collaboration between CAST Schools and the district, and it will be co-located on the campus of CAST Med High School. Dr. Anthony Khosravi, the CAST Med principal, will lead both the middle school and the high school. The new CAST middle school held focus groups to learn from potential families and educational partners what the school could look like and be named. The school’s name and logo will be unveiled during this community celebration.
March 7 (Thurs) – Riverside Park Autism Fair
5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Riverside Park Elementary, 202 School St., 78210
The public is invited to a parent and community Autism Resource Fair at Riverside Park Elementary. Families can listen to presentations and gather information from local agencies. Food, beverages and childcare will be provided for all attendees.
March 8 (Fri) – SAISD Students to Hear from NASA Astronauts Aboard International Space Station
11:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m., Advanced Learning Academy, 621 W. Euclid Ave., 78212
The San Antonio River Authority and students from the Advanced Learning Academy (ALA) will have a unique opportunity next to hear from NASA astronauts aboard the International Space Station. The Earth-to-space call tentatively will air live Friday, March 8 at 11:30-11:50 a.m. CST. on NASA+ and the agency’s website. NASA astronauts Loral O’Hara and Jeanette Epps will answer pre-recorded questions from ALA students. Additionally, ALA students and their families will participate in a Star Party and STEAM Fair on the day of the event.
