SAISD SPOTLIGHT: The SAISD combined Mariachi prepares for Fiesta 2025
Every year at the Fiesta Battle of Flowers parade, one group brings the loudest cheers. That would be the annual SAISD combined Mariachi group, made up of students from across the district. For 25 years, SAISD Mariachi students from high school, middle school or elementary school groups have been performing at this Fiesta day parade. It’s a Fiesta tradition the people of San Antonio look forward to.
Last year 200 mariachi students proudly marched through the streets of downtown San Antonio. The combined group plays only two songs: “Volver, Volver” and “Ay Jalisco, No Te Rajes.” Both songs are iconic Mariachi selections that have the Battle of Flowers Parade crowds singing along in unison.
This year’s combined Mariachi group has been meeting weekly on Wednesdays at Brackenridge High School (400 Eagleland Drive, 78201) at 5 p.m. in preparation for this year’s Battle of Flowers parade performance.
