June 15, 2021-SAISD will continue to provide meals during the Summer (June 21-July 31) as part of the Texas Department of Agriculture’s “Seamless Summer Nutrition Program.” The summer program will offer meals at no cost to children ages 18 years and younger. Also eligible for free meals are students who continue to be enrolled in school past the age of 18 but under the age of 21, and who are identified as disabled through a special education program.  

Effective June 21, 2021: 

Curbside locations will provide meal bundles on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 am. (For Meal Sites and serving times see listing below.)  Meal bundles will also be provided by SAISD Eats at various bus stop locations throughout the District on Tuesdays and Thursdays. (Location and times to be announced on the SAISD website.)

The “Seamless Summer Nutrition Program” is required by law in Districts with a large demographic of “free” eligible students. No application is required, and all participants are eligible regardless of whether they are enrolled in a summer program or not.

“The federally-funded program enables children to receive nutritious meals throughout the summer,” said SAISD Senior Executive Director of Child Nutrition Services Jenny Arredondo. “Regular and appropriate nutrition is very important to support a student’s academic performance and overall health.”
