Four inaugural graduates of CAST Tech High School, from the Class of 2021, participated in a seven-week summer paid internship, working alongside energy and water industry professionals to help them identify ways to manage resources more efficiently and to encourage conservation to combat climate change. They will present their work to the district and other program stakeholders on Friday.
The novel internship was a partnership with CAST Tech, CPS Energy and the BEE Project.
SAISD’s Energy and Sustainability Department supported the effort by developing a student energy engagement initiative to raise student and teacher awareness around energy use in school buildings. The interns used their skills in design, user experience (UX), and project management to develop a comprehensive challenge. This challenge will be showcased during October 2021's Energy Efficiency Awareness month in SAISD’s high schools to encourage all students and teachers to save energy and money through simple conservation measures.
CAST Tech High School is part of the CAST Schools network and SAISD.
