San Antonio ISD Board President Christina Martinez and new Interim Superintendent Robert Jaklich will be available to take questions from the media about Dr. Jaklich’s appointment as interim superintendent and their joint vision moving forward this school year. 

Following the press conference, Dr. Jaklich, warmly known as Dr. J, will read one of his favorite books to young students at Wilson Elementary School. He will read “Horton Hatches the Egg,” by Dr. Seuss. 

On Sept. 20, the SAISD Board of Trustees voted to name Dr. Jaklich as the district’s interim superintendent. He took over the role Wednesday, Sept. 29. Dr. Jaklich has a decade of experience leading other school districts. He most recently served as superintendent for Victoria ISD, and prior to that, he led Harlandale ISD. (See full bio.)

His appointment follows Superintendent Pedro Martinez leaving for Chicago Public Schools, where he is chief executive officer.
