The Office of Family and Community Engagement is organizing the district’s participation in the 28th Annual Cesar E. Chavez March for Justice. 

Co-sponsored by the City of San Antonio, The Cesar Chavez March for Justice is organized by The Cesar E. Chavez Legacy & Educational Foundation. Today, the organization is led by Ernest J. Martinez, the son of CECLEF’s founder, the late Jaime P. Martinez.

  • Cesar E. Chavez March for Justice, A San Antonio Tradition since 1997! Join us for the 28th annual Cesar E. Chavez March for Justice on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

    Co-sponsored by the City of San Antonio, The Cesar Chavez March for Justice is organized by The Cesar E. Chavez Legacy & Educational Foundation. Today, the organization is led by Ernest J. Martinez, the son of CECLEF’s founder, the late Jaime P. Martine

  • The march ceremonies start at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, with a procession to immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. 
  • District and campus staff will meet near the intersection of Guadalupe and Brazos near the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center and J.T. Brackenridge Elementary School (1214 Guadalupe St, San Antonio, TX 78207)

    Look for the SAISD Banner along Brazos Street.

  • The march will end at the HemisFair Civic Park. There will be post-march festivities from 11:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • District and campus staff are encouraged to represent their campus/department by wearing their campus/department shirts. We recommend that march participants wear comfortable tennis shoes and prepare for hot weather.
  • VIA Metropolitan Transit will provide complimentary Park & Ride Service to the Cesar E. Chavez March for Justice and ride service back to the Alamo Dome to Lots B & C

    March event participants can ride fare-free to the March from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. from the ALAMODOME Parking Lots B & C. Return Service will be offered until 2:30 pm from Old Bowie Street next to the Institute of Texan Cultures, Gate 4.

    We encourage you to carpool and utilize the free VIA transportation from the Alamodome, as street closures by SAPD begin at 8 a.m. for Guadalupe St. If you do arrive after 8 a.m., you may only enter the Lanier HS perimeter from the north.

  • Yes, signs and posters are welcome commemorating the life and legacy of Cesar E. Chavez.
