After completing all requirements for graduation in December 2000, Courtney returned to San Antonio and begin teaching at Madison Elementary School while coaching at Whittier Middle School. That July Coach Phyllis Sance one of Courtney’s mentors moved on to the SAISD Athletic Office and without hesitation Courtney jumped at the opportunity to coach at her alma mater and remained at Sam Houston until January of 2016.
Courtney attributes her drive to her mother who although is sweet and quiet - her love and support is mighty.
Courtney has two sons, Amaryon and Ahmir Thompson, who are currently students in SAISD and are huge fans of green, white and tangerine orange.
