Students in and out of SAISD who want to attend a different neighborhood school may submit a transfer request. Transfers depend on space availability and principal approval.

REQUESTING A TRANSFER

All families can submit a transfer request whether they live in or out of district.

Sign in to Frontline during registration. Request a change in schools and select which school you want to transfer to. Be sure to include your reason for transferring and any supporting documents. If you need help, notify the Enrollment Office at (210) 554-2660 or enroll@saisd.net.

The Transfer request will be reviewed by the receiving school’s administrator. Requests are pending availability and must be approved.

If the transfer is approved, the child will be enrolled at the receiving school.

If the transfer is NOT approved, families may appeal the decision by contacting the SAISD Enrollment Office at (210) 554-2660 or enroll@saisd.net.

All transfer requests will be processed within 10 business days.

NON-CRISIS TRANSFERS ▲
The 2024-25 Transfer Window will open in AVELA March 1.

Students currently enrolled at an SAISD school may request to transfer to another SAISD neighborhood school during registration for the upcoming school year. Families may request a transfer for any of the following reasons:
Keep siblings together at the same school

Attend a traditional middle school instead of an academy

Participate in programming at another school

Allow an SAISD employee's child to attend SAISD school
Remain at the same school after moving out of the attendance zone

Attend a different school following TEA Public Education Grant guidelines

Fulfill a court order
After the designated transfer window closes, only crisis transfer requests will be considered for approval.

Current SAISD students may request a Crisis Transfer at any time.

Crisis transfers follow the same process for submitting a non-crisis transfer with the reason marked as "Crisis" and the crisis explained.

STEP 1: Requests are reviewed by the Enrollment Office in collaboration with other district personnel to determine if it meets the crisis threshold.

STEP 2: If a crisis transfer is approved, the Enrollment Office will determine placement of the student.

STEP 3: The student will remain at the placement school for the remainder of the year.

Families may request a non-crisis transfer during the designated transfer window to remain at the school for the following school years.

New students may transfer into SAISD at any time during the school year.

Students may request to transfer to an SAISD neighborhood school for any of the following reasons:

Crisis transfers (families must provide more information)

Once enrolled, new SAISD students may apply for a transfer request to a different neighborhood school within 5 business days of enrollment.
