How To File A Complaint
If you wish to file a complaint about the actions of a police officer or about any component of the police operations, please follow one or all the steps below.
- Visit the department’s physical address and inform any police department employee that a complaint needs to be filed; or
- Contact the department and inform the department employee answering the phone that a complaint needs to be filed; or
- Submit your complaint in writing and mail it to Attention: Chief of Police, 514 W. Quincy St., San Antonio, Texas 78212.
A supervisory officer will assist you in filling out a Complaint Against Police Personnel Form. This form requires the complainant to provide their identity and specific details about the complaint.
The complaint will then be investigated. The complainant may be contacted and asked additional questions about the complaint submitted.
If the complaint requires a substantial amount of time to investigate, the complainant will receive a letter indicating an expected response time.
After the complaint has been investigated, the Chief of Police will review the investigation and
will respond in writing to the complainant with a Summary of Findings.
