Chief Johnny Reyes Jr.
Chief of Police
Johnny Reyes Jr. has been a Texas Peace Officer for 30 years and has worked for the Bexar and Frio County Sheriff’s Departments; working in detention, patrol, traffic, and the drug interdiction / narcotics divisions. Chief Reyes has been employed with the San Antonio ISD Police Department for 20 years.
He has a Master’s Degree from Our Lady of The Lake University in Organizational Leadership and Management. He has a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M University-Kingsville in Criminology. He has an Associate’s of Arts Degree from Palo Alto College in Liberal Studies in Criminology and an Associate’s of Arts Degree from Palo Alto College in Criminal Justice.
He is certified as a Master Texas Peace Officer, Police Instructor, and is a Field Training Officer with the department. He serves as an adjunctive Police Instructor with the Alamo Area Council of Governments Law Enforcement Academy (AACOG). He is a member of the Texas Law Enforcement Training Consortium, Texas Gang Investigators Association, California Gang Investigators Association, Midwest Gang Investigators Association, and the International Police Mountain Bike Association.
Chief Reyes serves as an in-house adjunct instructor teaching various TCOLE courses to include: Basic Police Instructor, Active Shooter Response, Defense Tactics, Intermediate Weapons, Police Patrol Tactics, Use of Force, Child Abuse, Ethics, Crime Scene Investigation, Racial Profiling, ASP Baton and the Police Cyclist Course.
Armando Olguin Jr.
Deputy Chief of Police
Armando Olguin Jr. joined the San Antonio ISD Police Department in 2009. With over a decade and a half experience in school-based law enforcement he has served in various roles within the police department to include campus officer, patrol officer, mobile campus officer, field training officer, and police instructor. He has also held the ranks of Senior Sergeant, Interim Lieutenant, Captain and currently holds the position of Deputy Chief of Police.
He has a Master of Science degree from Grand Canyon University with an emphasis on Police Leadership and Management. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas Pan-American (now UTRGV) in Communication Studies with a minor in Criminal Justice.
He is certified through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards as a Master Texas Peace Officer, certified School Based Law Enforcement Officer, certified Mental Health Peace Officer, certified Police Instructor, and certified Field Training Officer. He is a member of the Texas School Districts Police Chiefs Association and sits on the Alamo Area Council of Governments Criminal Justice Advisory Committee (AACOG-CJAC).
Deputy Chief Olguin has taught and managed all Active Shooter Response classes for the department's patrol, campus divisions, and Special Operations. He is a certified ALERRT Level 1 Instructor as well as a certified ALERRT Solo Officer Rapid Deployment Instructor.
Deputy Chief was instrumental in creating and implementing the department's Thera-Pup Unit. This unit focuses on providing follow-ups and de-escalation to any of our students or staff, who may have experienced a traumatic event or are actively in crisis.
