Wishing you a joyful holiday season - Dec. 17, 2021
12/17/2021
Dear SAISD Family Member,

On behalf of our Board of Trustees and the entire SAISD, we wish you and your family a joyful, heartwarming, and restful holiday season. The 2021-2022 school year has been a tremendous success, during which we have overcome several challenges and experienced countless accomplishments.

We also want to acknowledge our employees who will be retiring at the semester break, wishing them all the very best in their future endeavors. Rich Devos once stated, “The only things that stand between a person and what they want in life are the will to try it and the faith to believe it is possible.” These outstanding retirees leave us with the will to try and the faith to believe as they have inspired us with their remarkable service. Furthermore, these incredible individuals have left a legacy for all of us to follow, and I invite you to join me in extending our gratitude for a “Job Well Done.”

January 2022 has been proclaimed as School Board Recognition Month, and this year’s theme is “Rising Above.” This is an especially appropriate title given the unprecedented issues board members face in navigating the current challenges of public education.

Please join me in thanking our Board of Trustees for their commitment to our students, staff, schools, and community. Of the 1,247-plus school districts across the State of Texas and the 8,700-plus board members currently serving, there are no other school boards that deserve this recognition and celebration more than our very own SAISD Board of Trustees.

They are an amazing group of individuals who voluntarily take up the enormous responsibility of governing our schools, and we are extremely proud of them. Our seven board members serve as a guiding force to an exemplary education and provide extensive opportunities for student success.

They spend countless hours without compensation to establish school policies that reflect our community’s belief in public education. They also work closely with district staff to set goals that project the vision of our future and serve as the voice of our community, always placing our SAISD family members needs first and foremost.

Abraham Lincoln once stated, “In the end, it is not the years in your life that counts. It is the life in your years.” During this holiday season, let us pause and take a moment regarding the life in our years. Let us take the time to visit with our family, take stock in our health, reconnect with friends, and count our many blessings. Let us not take for granted the things that are closest to our heart, because these are the moments that truly make life meaningful.

On behalf of our Board of Trustees and our entire “79 Square Miles of Excellence,” we wish you a holiday season that brings you many wonderful reasons to smile, filled with moments of love, laughter, and joy, to last a long while.

Happy Holidays!
