Celebrating Excellence - Jan. 14, 2022
01/14/2022
Dear SAISD Family Member,

As I travel across our “79 Square Miles of Excellence,” I continually encounter success, achievement, and a commitment to excellence at every stop.

This week we received a second chance to experience another “first day of school,” and I am so proud of how we launched our January-to-June semester initiative. We returned as safely as possible after two weeks, and in some cases three weeks, of being away from our typical COVID-19 protocols. It is clearly evident that we have within us the belief, knowledge, and skill set to truly become the school district that we aspire to be.

We are also so blessed and fortunate to be surrounded by caring and dedicated staff districtwide. And although I say it often, I can’t say it often enough – We truly appreciate you and all that you do!

January 2022 has been proclaimed as School Board Recognition Month, and this year’s theme is “Rising Above.” This is an especially appropriate title given the unprecedented issues board members face in navigating the current challenges of public education.

Please join me in thanking our Board of Trustees for their commitment to our students, staff, schools, and community. Of the 1,247-plus school districts across the State of Texas and the 8,700-plus board members currently serving, there are no other school boards that deserve this recognition and celebration more than our very own SAISD Board of Trustees.

They are an amazing group of individuals who voluntarily take up the enormous responsibility of governing our schools, and we are extremely proud of them. Our seven board members serve as a guiding force to an exemplary education and provide extensive opportunities for student success.

Their efforts and sound decisions continue to illuminate the path of excellence for our entire school district.

They spend countless hours without compensation to establish school policies that reflect our community’s belief in public education. They also work closely with district staff to set goals that project the vision of our future and serve as the voice of our community, always placing our SAISD family members needs first and foremost.

Recognizing our Board of Trustees for their commitment and sacrifices takes a combined effort from us all. We will be acknowledging these amazing educators at our regularly scheduled Board Meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 18, for their remarkable service to our amazing school district.

Great leadership always begins with a willing heart, a positive attitude, and a desire to make a difference. We extend our sincere appreciation to our Board of Trustees for bringing these traits to the San Antonio ISD and for reminding us that the greatest risk in life is never taking one.

Have a “Fantastic Friday.”
