Exceptional teachers - Feb. 2, 2022
02/02/2022
Dear SAISD Family Member,

Yesterday, we met with 40 of our exceptional teachers and had to inform them that SAISD inadvertently left off their names when we submitted the list of teachers who qualified for the state’s Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) to the Texas Education Agency (TEA). This TIA list is pending TEA approval in April of 2022.

If SAISD’s TIA list is approved, the effect of this omission is twofold: This year, these 40 educators would not receive the state’s stipend nor the designation on their certificates for being a recognized, exemplary, or master teacher.

However, SAISD acknowledges this error and is committed to compensating the teachers for the monetary stipend they would have received from the state for this year, pending the approval of the submitted list by TEA in April.

We are steadfast in our commitment to work closely with these teachers affected by this data error and will support them in their journey to re-qualify for the upcoming school year. These educators are extraordinary, highly qualified, valued professionals, and we are confident they will continue to meet the state’s high standards and earn their designations in the next qualifying round.

Martin Luther King, Jr. once stated, “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

Please know, we are devoted to providing these teachers our very best efforts during this most challenging time, and we truly appreciate their exceptional service to the students, staff, and families of SAISD.

Sincerely,

"Dr. J"
