SAISD is monitoring COVID-19, formerly known as novel coronavirus - March 2, 2020
03/02/2020
Dear SAISD Staff:

We are aware of the rapidly evolving local and national scene regarding COVID-19, formerly known as coronavirus, which is a respiratory illness. We are actively monitoring the situation and are in regular communication with the city’s Metropolitan Health District who, in turn, receives regular updates from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Last week, we launched a COVID-19 awareness website with important information and links to local, state and federal resources for our staff and families, and today we delivered parent letters to schools to be sent home with students.

The health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Per federal recommendation, we are following the CDC’s National Pandemic Influenza Plan districtwide, which includes frequently cleaning high-touch surfaces using approved hospital-grade virucidal cleaners. Our cleaning protocol includes wiping down doorknobs, light switches, desks, tables and restrooms, among other surfaces.

Please know we will continue to monitor this situation closely and report any updates to our SAISD families and staff. Principals will be notified should additional information need to be sent to families, and updates also will be shared to the District’s home page.

Sincerely,
Pedro
