At the Monday, March 22 Board meeting, our Trustees approved an instructional calendar change to this year’s calendar. Monday, April 12 has been changed from a student instructional day to a student holiday/staff development day.
The change was approved to accommodate the almost 3,000 campus-based staff members who are scheduled to receive their second COVID-19 dose throughout the day on Monday, April 12 through our partnership with University Health. The first dose was administered on Monday, March 22, which already had been approved as a student holiday/staff development day.
The revision of April 12 to a student holiday/staff development day will accomplish three things:
• Allow campus-based staff to complete their vaccination process on schedule
• Allow teachers to complete staff development activities started on March 22
• Avoid disruption to a student instructional day
Students will not be required to make up this day, and the last day of school for students will remain Thursday, June 17.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our vaccination initiative over the past few months. We are grateful to our health care partners who worked so closely with us in providing access to the COVID-19 vaccines, and to you, for your patience through the coordination and scheduling process.
We will continue our safety protocols and weekly COVID-19 testing, and these vaccines will give us an extra layer of protection. This approach will ensure we have the safest possible school environments as we close out this school year.
