  • On Sept. 18, San Antonio ISD released an initial draft of school rightsizing recommendations. Here are some details about recommendations for Green Elementary.  

    Reason(s) 

    • Historically under enrolled
    • Declining enrollment
    • Many students choose to attend other schools
    • Building not used to full capacity

    Recommendation for 2024-2025 school year  

    • Merge Green Elementary with Bonham Academy to create a pre-K-8 grade school on two campuses
    • Pre-K-2 grade students would attend Bonham at Green
    •   3-8 grade students would go to the Bonham location

    Benefits  

    • Better academic and extracurricular offerings 
    • More educator and staff support
    • Enhanced special education programs
    • More mental health and social services
    • Larger campus budget for more resources
    • Alleviate congestion at Bonham

    • Students from Carroll Elementary would start attending MLK Academy in 2025 upon completion of a full building renovation
    • Students in pre-K-2 grades would attend ML King at Carroll until renovations are complete
